ORBIT SSH
Privacy Policy
Effective September 2, 2026
Orbit SSH is a local-first SSH and SFTP client for Android. Your configured servers and credentials stay under your control.
Data handled by Orbit
Orbit may store host addresses, usernames, passwords, SSH keys, trusted host fingerprints, snippets, preferences, and optional session logs on your device. Secrets are stored in encrypted, Android Keystore-backed storage. Orbit does not operate an account service or developer-controlled backend and does not send this information to the developer.
Connections and file transfers
When you connect to a server, Orbit sends connection and authentication data directly to the server you selected. SFTP uploads and downloads transfer directly between your Android device and that server. Network discovery probes devices on your local network only when you initiate a scan.
Collection and sharing
Orbit does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal data with the developer or third parties. Orbit contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDK.
Android permissions
Internet access supports SSH, SFTP, port forwarding, and user-initiated local-network discovery. Notifications and foreground-service access keep active SSH sessions visible and controllable. Biometric access protects the local vault when enabled. Android's system document picker grants access only to files you explicitly select.
Retention and deletion
Data remains on your device until you remove it in Orbit, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Files you export are controlled by you and your selected storage provider.
Security
Orbit uses Android Keystore-backed encryption for saved secrets, verifies SSH host identities, and rejects changed trusted host keys unless you explicitly review them. You remain responsible for the servers and credentials you configure.
Children's privacy
Orbit is a technical administration tool and is not directed to children.
